2026 WVFD Annual Fund Drive
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
The members of the Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department (“WVFD”) respectfully request your assistance with our 2026 Annual Fund Drive. As a non-profit, charitable organization, we depend upon private donations to support our operations.
Who is the Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department?
Founded in 1754, the WVFD has provided firefighting and emergency medical services to the residents of, and visitors to, Williamsburg for over 271 years. Our members are local business professionals, military veterans, college students, and other citizens from all walks of life who volunteer their time to supplement the paid staff of the Williamsburg Fire Department (“Department”). Our volunteers wear the same uniform as the career staff. On any emergency call, you might find a mix of career staff and volunteers, all working together as a team to the same high professional standards. The WVFD helps ensure continuity of operations through career staff augmentation, supports large fire and emergency incidents, and provides unique capabilities that exceed assigned Departmental shift manpower availability. We also support the many special events hosted by the City of Williamsburg, the College of William and Mary, and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, assist with fire and public safety education, and provide a pathway for entry into the field of fire and emergency medical services for interested members of the community. Our volunteers contributed over 5,038 hours assisting the paid staff on 4,981 calls in 2025.
What are your donations used for?
During the past year, your donations helped to purchase the best possible medical supplies for the Department's ambulances. Funds raised in 2025 also purchased an additional state-of-the-art GlideScope laryngoscope intubation device, a transport ventilator capable of breathing for patients during emergencies, and radios that alert our volunteers to regional emergencies. Over the next several months, funds raised during 2026 will purchase new pediatric bag emergency kit systems to better care for our pediatric patients, Aegis neonatal body wraps that allow for safer transport of newborns with their mothers, new suction devices, and other proposed fire and medical capital improvement items
